My Writing Career

My Writing in the 1990’s
(I can’t reveal too much about my age)

I started writing at school, excelling at the creative writing portion and even winning an award or two. My Grade 7 story of a lonely tree was read at our school graduation ceremony with more than 1000 parents in attendance.

What happened from
2001 – 2020

5 years is the time it took me to achieve my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in English and Ethics. The rest of that time was spent helping families broken because of alcohol, drugs, mental health challenges, domestic abuse, or grieving the loss of a loved one. I have also spent 7 years as an HIV/AIDS and TB advocate and facilitator, speaking to people about being safe, getting tested, and having LOADS of fun…with minimum risk!

2013 – till now

I wrote my first full-length novel. Which did three things;

1. A therapeutic means of working through burnout;
2. Giving women in abusive situations the motivation to love themselves enough to leave;
3. To give hope to those wondering about life after.

I write to give hope, inspire, give joy and maybe a tiny giggle. I write to keep you suspended on the edge of your seat, to offer you time to relax and to find true gems of “Aha” moments.

I appreciate feedback and would love to hear what you thought of my story, and how it resonated with you, and maybe share a bit of your story too. And drop an idea, you never know, it might be the next bestseller with your personalized dedication page!
